
Getting Your KTK Oval Printing Lamps Right
If you’re looking to swap out the IR lamps in your KTK oval machine, you already know it’s not as simple as just grabbing any tube that looks the right length. Get the thermal footprint or the electrical load wrong, and you’re looking at a bad day. Either you’ll be blowing fuses left and right, or—even worse—your ink won’t cure properly, and you’ll be dealing with ruined garments.
The “Drop-In” Reality
We build these flash dryer lamps to be true direct replacements. Here’s the thing: the wattage and voltage have to be a perfect match for the KTK power supply. If you try to sneak a lower-voltage lamp into a high-voltage circuit, you’ll fry that filament in a matter of hours. And the length? It has to be spot on. Down to the millimeter. If it’s off by even 2mm, it won’t sit right in the sockets. You’ll end up forcing the quartz tube into place, putting stress on the glass, and then—snap—it cracks way sooner than it should.
What’s Actually Inside
Flash drying is brutal on equipment. The lamps go from ice cold to scorching in seconds, over and over again. To handle that, we use high-purity quartz glass. We also make sure the filaments are centered perfectly. Why? Because you need the heat to hit the garment evenly, not in patches. We also skip those generic coatings you see on cheap lamps. Those things tend to flake off when they get hot. Instead, we focus on the emissivity of the filament so the IR waves hit the ink directly. It just works better.
Putting Them to Work
Installing them is the easy part. We use the original connector footprints, so you just slide them in, lock them down, and flip the switch. One quick heads-up: if you decide to bump up the wattage to speed up your production, your dryer head is going to get a lot hotter. Check your exhaust fans. If your airflow is clogged with dust or lint, that trapped heat will kill your lamps faster. Also, do yourself a favor and check the contact points for oxidation every 500 hours. It takes two minutes, and it stops those annoying arcs at the terminals before they start.
