To get a perfect fit, the electrical load and the heat output have to be spot on. That’s why we build our quartz tubes to the exact same specs as the original KTK parts. You just slide them in. The Nitty-Gritty: Heat and Power
Inside that quartz glass is a tungsten filament doing all the heavy lifting. We spend a lot of time balancing the wattage and voltage. Why? Because if the resistance is off, you might blow a transformer or—even worse—end up with splotchy, uneven heat on your shirts. These tubes are built to handle those massive current surges that happen during flash curing without breaking a sweat. We use shortwave infrared tech so the heat hits the ink the second it’s triggered. It’s fast. Really fast. One quick tip: these things get incredibly hot. If your machine’s vents are clogged with lint or dust, that trapped heat will eat through your lamps way faster than they should. Keep them clean.
Built to Last (and Fit)
We use fused quartz glass because it doesn’t freak out when the temperature jumps from cold to scorching. It won’t crack under pressure. We also obsess over the ends of the tubes. If the fit is too loose, you get arcing (which is bad). Too tight, and you risk snapping the glass while you’re installing it. We measure everything to the millimeter so the lamp just drops right into the housing. No shims, no “making it work,” just a clean fit.
Pro Tips for the Shop Floor
Before you flip the switch, take a second to check your contact points for oxidation. A quick clean-up prevents those annoying hot spots at the terminals. These lamps give you the rapid ramp-up you need to keep a high-volume shop moving, but just keep an eye on your curing distance. You want the ink set, not the fabric scorched.
